Griffith Observatory

Looking over LAIt’s odd to live in LA and not have visited the Griffith Observatory. After all, it is free, open late, and is easily accessible by road.

So this night I decided to lead a photowalk up there on a Wednesday. Wednesday simply because it’s a weekday and it would be a lot less crowded.

The shots here are mostly exterior shots. The clouds rolled in at about 8 and blocked out all shots of the city. However, this did led to some interesting shots with the clouds. Check them out in the sideshow here.

Matt & Kim!

It begins!!!Finally saw Matt & Kim! I ended up getting their tickets 3 months ago right when they came out. So the wait and expectations between then and now was just overwhelming. And when I stop to think about all the events that went on in that time, I really think it’s quite amazing how time flies.

So now the question is, what do I have to look forward to now? That’s a good one. Because I have no idea what the next show is going to be.

Kogi in San Gabriel!!!

Kogi has arrivedHere’s the line for Kogi in San Gabriel. It’s their first time here, so I can see what all the excitement in the crowd. But that’s the line, the first leg of it. At the end there it breaks left for about 15 feet to dodge some bushes, and then it continues for the same length as the front leg except slightly longer.

At this point, if you’re waiting at the end, you’ve got to realize that the chances of you getting served are next to nil. After all, they are only one truck tonight.

I would have bit the bullet and gone down to LA to get it instead of waiting in line. But hey, that’s me.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks trying to write for my hiking site and do some post processing on the pictures that I have. Done is the Melrose photowalk which I still have to post. Pending is the Obi Best show at the Hotel Cafe.

I’ve also got the Red/Gold line photowalk to plan out.

Oh yea, also have the possible Calico Civil War reenactment to do on the 15th as well. Although that’s still tentative even this late.

I haven’t been to Melrose in ages. So why not turn this into a photowalk? Here’s the plan, meet at noon, grab some coffee, a sandwich perhaps, and head on out snapping photos of shoppers, shops, or anything that catches our eye. Tourist we shall be!

Figure This was a fun photowalk. Sunday afternoon with cool weather and cool people. We had met at the park located across from Union Station. At that location, there was a small rally going on. Not exactly sure what it was about, but immigration was overheard by another member of my group.

After meet and greet, we headed off and did a clockwise tour of the area. The first stop was the historic Plaza Fire Station. This was actually a cool place to walk into and see all the history. The first floor they have an old engine, and then upstairs was some beds and other artifacts from ages ago.

Downtown L.A. Art Walk

Following the official website, I parked at 415 S. Main St for $5. This was hassle free, and when I got there, I pretty much had the whole bottom lot to myself. From a comment posted on the Meetup site, this place doesn’t really become active until after 6pm. And judging by the various galleries we went to, they were still setting up for the nights festivities. Wine, cupcakes, and bands were to perform. All of this is not present during the day.
